CREATIVE ARTS

Contestants are grouped into divisions by age, and all entered items are judged against those within their own division. Standard age divisions and their entry fees are as follows. Please note: Age divisions and their entry fees may vary within departments. Please check rules specific to each department. All entry fees are per entry item.

ARTS & CRAFTS

Registration Monday, 12 noon-7:00 PM. Crafts must have been finished since the last Clark County Fair by the person whose name is on the entry. All exhibitors must be residents of Clark County.

Furniture and Woodworking

Please review all sections & classes in the rest of this book before classifying entries to ensure the correct choice. All entries must be made by the exhibitor and completed in the last two years. Entries must not have been previously entered in the Clark County Fair.

Food Presentation

Registration Monday, 12 noon to 7:00 p.m. Only one (1) entry in each class. Exhibits must have been canned since the last Clark County Fair by the person whose name is on the exhibit. Food safety is of utmost importance. The superintendent reserves the right to reject any item that does not adhere to USDA-approved preservation methods.

Baked Goods

Registration Tuesday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Any exhibit not complying with all rules and regulations will be disqualified. Entries must be made by the person whose name is on the entry. Only one (1) entry per class except where indicated. All entries (excepted decorated cakes) must be sealed in clear plastic bags. No plastic wrap, wax paper, or foil will be accepted.

Clothing

Exhibitor is permitted only one entry in each class except where indicated. Garments that are soiled, stained, or torn will not be accepted. Garments will be judged on neatness, durability, and freedom from bulk.

NEEDLEWORK

One entry per exhibitor is allowed in each class except where indicated. Entries will be judged on general appearance, the beauty of design, workmanship, suitability, and taste. Soiled, stained, or torn items will not be accepted.

Quilting

Entries must have been made exclusively by the person whose name is on the entry except where otherwise stated. One entry per exhibitor in each class except where indicated. Entries will be judged on general appearance, the beauty of design, workmanship, suitability, and taste. Soiled, stained, or torn items will not be accepted for judging.

HORTICULTURE, FARM CROPS, ORNAMENTAL PLANTS & FLOWERS

Registration from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Tuesday. Must have grower’s name on all entries. All entries must be on display by noon, Wednesday. Points will be 5, 4, and 3 respectively for first, second, and third places. Exhibits must be on paper plates or in jars except for pumpkins and watermelons. Exhibits must be free of soil. Judging will be based on condition, uniform size, and color, consistent with variety, type, and free from blemishes, disease, or insect damage.

ORNAMENTAL PLANTS & FLOWERS

Registration from 8:00 AM to 12 noon, Tuesday. All exhibits must be in place by noon. Judging begins at 1:00 PM. Only one plant of each kind is allowed per person. Commercially grown flowers are prohibited. Specimen blooms should be displayed in a small drink bottle (10 oz. or less). Specimen will be judged by variety, not by each color. Only one (1) specimen bloom per bottle. The kind of plant must be written on the identification label. The exhibitor is responsible for lifting and bringing plants into the exhibit building, watering, and care during the fair. No entry will be accepted that is not show material (i.e., no damaged foliage imperfect blossoms, or soiled containers.). Points will be 5, 4, and 3 respectively for first, second, and third places.

GIANT PUMPKIN & WATERMELON CONTEST

Exhibits must be entered and weighed from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday in the Arts & Crafts Building. Exhibitors must be present at the time of the weigh-in. Pumpkins and watermelons must be raised in Clark County. The largest watermelon and largest pumpkin was grown in the county will each receive a $50 cash prize presented at the Fair Board Banquet in November.
